Address to the Jury

"Constable Saunders' description of what she saw when the patrol car stopped in front of my house was compelling: smoke billowing out the half-open door, me collapsed on the steps, my head in my hands, jacketless on a chilly autumn night, my shirt damply stained with blood.  Not my own."

Address to the Jury
is a new play to
be presented
July 1-12, 2009 at :

Guilty or Not Guilty?

Depending on which evidence you believe, mild-mannered schoolteacher John Matthews is either a remorseless killer or a loving father overwhelmed by grief and loss.

In one of the year's most sensational cases, Matthews is charged with double murder in the brutal slayings of his wife, Alyssa, and four-year-old
daughter, Nicole.  Found at the scene covered in blood and holding the knife in his hands, he has already been convicted in the media and abandoned by all but a few close friends but the trial isn't over.

Guilty or Not Guilty, that's the question.  Don't wait to hear the verdict on the evening news.  Be in the courtroom when Matthews rises to speak in his own defence and judge for yourself.

In this dark and somewhat surreal courtroom drama, Matthews pleads his case to the audience/jury while struggling to cope with grief and dispel the ghosts of his wife and daughter.
